Mollywood readies for Ramzan and Onam

Who all will fight for this year’s Ramzan (August 20) and Onam (August 29) festival season at the theatres in Kerala?

It is the most impressive line-up in years and the trade is gung-ho about it.

Actually the festival season in Kerala starts on Independence Day (August 15),with the release of Salman Khan’s Ek Tha Tiger which is releasing big in 40screens in Kerala.

On Friday (August 17) there is Telugu actor Allu Arjun’s Malayalam Gajapokkiri dubbing of his Telugu hit Julayi. Remember Allu popularly known as Mallu Arjun has a huge fan base among the youth in Kerala.

Fahaad Fazil's Lijin Jose directed Friday which has Ann Augustine, Manu and Nedumudi Venu, in supporting roles releases on Saturday (August 18) in 50 screens.

The same day will see the release of  Dileep’s long in the making Sandhya Mohan directed Mr.Marumakan, a comedy film which has Tamil actors Bhagyaraj and Kushboo in supporting roles.

Johnny Antony’s Thappana starring  Mammootty and Charmy Kaur in the lead is due for release on Sunday (Aug 19), likely to be Ramzan day in Kerala. It is one of the biggies of the season and is said to be an out and out commercial entertainer.

Joshiy’s Mohanlal starrer Run Baby Run will reach the viewers on Thiru Onam day( August 29) . The film based on happenings in a news channel has Amala Paul in the female lead.

    Thrissur: Director Shaji Kailas has written the script as well, for his latest venture titled Simhaasanam which has Prithviraj as the hero. The shooting of the film has started at the director’s favourite location, Varikkassery Mana at Ottappalam. The film talks about a prestigious family called ‘Chandragiri’.     Gold, the next film of Rajesh Pillai after Traffic

    Kochi: Traffic director Rajesh Pillai has announced his next project in Malayalam, a film titled Gold. “It’s based on the lives of women athletes and their journey of struggles that often gets unnoticed,” says Rajesh Pillai. The film has been scripted by Sankar Ramakrishnan, who wrote Urumi. Rajesh, who recently pulled out of the Tamil version of Traffic, will direct the Bollywood version of the film soon.
