Kochi: Piaggio Vehicles Pvt. Ltd. looks forward to strengthening its Kochi chapter with a robust engagement plan for Vespa enthusiasts, one of their prime markets for the recently launched Vespa.  The entry of the original iconic Vespa in the country marks the creation of an all new luxury segment in the two-wheeler scooter category.

Speaking at the occasion, Mr. Ravi Chopra, Chairman and Managing Director, PVPL said, “Vespa is an icon of distinctive lifestyle- it is for India's discerning youth who wish to be recognized as an exclusive group, and aspire to be different.  This timeless brand is for those who want to ride in style and make a fashion statement at the same time. Every engagement initiative from Piaggio, inclusive of the Onam revelry is to bring into focus this ethos reinstating our longstanding youth connect.”

He further adds “Vespa has been launched keeping in mind a generation set to earn and indulge; looking for ways of self-expression - Vespa provides an opportunity to this target segment, reflecting an extension of their personality.

Piaggio enjoys a phenomenal following down South and the state of Kerala forms an integral part of our multifold strategy in the India growth chapter. Today in Kerala, over 700 vehicles are on the road and an impressive 650 bookings are already in hand. This clearly shows the popularity, desirability and appeal of the Vespa to the brand conscious, fashion conscious, style conscious enthusiasts of Kerala.”

Vespa has 50 stores across 35 cities, each resonates its brand and style quotient and also encompasses state-of-the-art international facilities. As part of this ambitious plan, Piaggio has Vespa stores in Kochi, Trivandrum and Calicut.  These stores exude elegance and a classy ambience for the customer who is about to make a lifestyle statement. The focus is to offer the consumer an unmatched and cherished experience! To enable the consumers and facilitate the allotment of the Vespa during Onam, the company has opened many outlets.

Festivities just got grander in God's Own Country Kerala, as Vespa joins the beautiful city of Kochi to celebrate its favourite harvest festival - Onam. Weaving together the dreams of millions of young Keralites, Piaggio presents an exquisite opportunity to visit the iconic Italian Vespa museum by participating in a lucky draw. This lucky winner will be one among the purchasers of the Italian scooter during the festive month. In addition, Piaggio will also give away traditional gifts to celebrate the harvest festival.

For the distinctive owners of the Vespa, the price tag remains secondary as the pride of ownership takes centre stage. The Vespa is priced at Rs. 68, 488 (ex-showroom Kochi). Piaggio identifies a latent potential market in the untapped premium space of the scooter category, and are very optimistic about the growth trends in India. Vespa will be a disruptive force in the 2 W segment as it works towards bringing Kerala into the league of International markets where consumers are looking to own nothing but the best.

Piaggio Vehicles Pvt. Ltd. – the wholly owned Indian subsidiary of the Italian Piaggio Group launched the original iconic Vespa in India in April this year, and has achieved tremendous success across the country. It has set up a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility for its production at Baramati in Maharashtra with a capacity of 150,000 units per year, set to double by second half of 2013.
